  • Abstract:  After using these drives for over a week I have noticed an increased responsiveness in my system. Games and applications are loading faster; even Windows seems a bit quicker. Then there is the little bit of extra hard drive space that I now have. When ...

  • Abstract:  Taking a look at the burst results honestly made me say "WOW"! The Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 not only outscored the RAID 0 array of SATA 1.5 Gb/s drives, but it also blew away the Hitachi SATA 3 Gb/s 500GB drive by over 20 MB/s. Taking a look at the oth...

  • Abstract:  IntroductionLast week, Seagate officially announced their 7200.9 desktop hard disk drive line, which brought 3.0Gbps transfer rates, a barrage of SATA features, and a new capacity to bring Seagate to share the top of the mountain with Hitachi. We promi...

  • Abstract:  Seagates new Barracuda 7200.9 essentially rolls the older 7200.8 and 7200.7 lines into one all-encompassing family that delivers a wide range of capacities available in both the PATA and SATA interfaces. Bumping its design to four platters, Seagate ha...

  • Nous sommes donc en présence d’un excellent produit. Ses performances sont plus que correctes et il s’accompagne d’un silence qui peut parfois déranger. Sa compatibilité avec la directive environnementale RoHs le place en tête de nos tests et sa garan...

  • Massive storage space
  • Price per gigabyte a little high The Final Word While two 250GB drives may be cheaper, having 500GB in a single drive is very convenient. The 7200.9 is quiet, fast and cool.

  • Seagate may have been later to the market with its 300MB/s drives than that of Maxtor, WD or Samsung but Seagate has waited till the right time, when SATA 2.5 has been finalised, and this has proven to be a winning combination as far as we are concern...

  • Abstract:  This drive isnt twice as fast as old-style SATA predecessors, but its a great performer for the price. The Seagate is fast. And with a cost per gigabyte of just 29p, its very economical too. To the untrained eye, the Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 is no...

  • Abstract:  A lot of storage, together with good performance make this a tempting drive. But it isnt the best value for money If you keep a lot of media on your PC, the Barracuda 7200.9, which offers 465GB of storage after Windows formatting, is a seriously temp...
