  • Abstract:  Many may associate The 3rd Birthday as a kick off to a new franchise. Upon hearing the main character's name, there seems to be an odd familiarity to it. Just where have we heard the name Aya Brea before? Oh, that's right from the Parasite Eve games. D...

  • Abstract:  No matter what it’s called, this is a pretty decent 3D shooter, and there aren’t so many of those on the PSP. That singularity helps overshadow some of the game’s stranger little quirks. This maybe-sequel begins the same way Parasite Eve did, with gia...

  • Phenomenal visuals; excellent soundtrack; great atmosphere; some very interesting game mechanics.
  • Said mechanics aren't always used well; lacks consistency in gameplay quality; frustratingly long sequences and boss fights will test your patience, characters are either expendable or unlikable.

  • Abstract:  After waiting eleven years for a sequel to Parasite Eve II, The 3rd Birthday is not exactly the game I was expecting. That's a hard sentence for me to write—the weight of my personal history with Parasite Eve alone almost betrays my hand. I've long gro...

  • Impressive visuals, particularly in cutscenes, The overdive ability is fun to use, Creates some tense moments.
  • Stiff controls, Some frustrating battles, Weak protagonist.
  • Frequently frustrating combat and an annoying central character prevent The 3rd Birthday from making the most of its unusual mechanics....

  • The 3rd Birthday is great game, no question. It has depth, great production values throughout (despite the disappointing script) and the raw mechanics give PSP gamers a mostly satisfying RPG-shooter despite the system's inherent flaws. As gamers prepar...

  • Abstract:  The 3rd Birthday is a conflicted, confused game that can't seem to decide what, in fact, it actually is. Granted, it plays well; it looks gorgeous; and the soundtrack is exceptional. Look deeper, though, and you'll be hard-pressed to figure out exactly...
